I’m so excited!

Excitement #1: Our LA friends will be staying with us this Saturday. We had a lovely dinner at Dove-VIVI last night. Their pizza is amaze-balls! You really must try it.

Excitement #2: I decided I wanted a new bed frame for my birthday. I found the perfect one on craigslist and I will be picking it up on Saturday. I also scored the cutest new comforter, duvet and sheets for my future bed. Although, I have already washed, ironed and assembled them on my old bed. Who can wait?

Excitement #3: I was contacted by a lovely clothing website Sugarlipsapparell.com about possibly partnering with them. They have some really cute stuff! So I guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

We Portlanders don’t know what to do with ourselves when it’s sunny for a extended period of time. We are always looking over our shoulders for a rain cloud. Well, I’m happy to say all weather make me happy, although there is something about the sun that give me a little boost. Not to mention taking photos is a whole lot easier.

We have been hanging with so many friends lately. I have been cooking dinner for a crew almost every night this week. It’s so nice to be able to BBQ anytime. Our friend Josh Letchworth showed up late last night to stay with us. He’s in town for a photo shoot. You should definitely check out his work here.

We are so blessed to have such great friends! The new visiting crew shows up tonight.

I have been spending a lot of time cleaning these days. I really am trying to be very organized. I feel much more productive when everything is in it’s place. The hardest part for me is putting things away right when I’m done with them, but I’m training myself.

The first group of photos is from my office. It’s a work in progress. I’m always getting new supplies so it’s a never ending battle for space. I’ve decided a good rule of thumb is if I’m embarrassed for company to see my work area it means it needs a clean. The great thing about my office is I have tons of local art and fun decor in there to keep it feeling light. I always look at those who can decorate minimally and think what a wonderful look, but its definitely not for me. Oh well, organized chaos will have to do.

The second group of photos is from my wardrobe room. I have changed this room so many times over the years, but this set up is by far the best. I could never figure out the right ratio of space. I never had enough room for my boots, but now I have a whole wall for boots. My handbags were always a mess, now they are color coded and in cubbies. The rest of my shoes were a jumble, now they all have areas: flats on the back of the door and vintage on the side of the built in, thanks to pocket organizers, sandals and sneakers in baskets under my rolling racks, and heels are on shelves. My jackets are coded by style and color. My dresses are on racks for vintage or new. Skirts have their own rack, and shirts are by color and sleeve length. Even belts and scarves have hooks and baskets to tame them. Everything else is neatly folded in the main closet.

I feel pretty good about how far I’ve come. I grew up in a messy house, and I have always fought to be different. Well I think I have succeded. Yeah!

I hope this will inspire you to be a bit more organized. Not to please others, but for yourself.

I’m so sorry, but I have been so busy. We had our dear friends the Sherman’s stay with us all week. They were finishing up a world wide trip, and chose to come see us before heading back to their home in Mexico. It seemed only right to spend my time with them and not blogging. You understand right?

We did so many things, and it was a whirlwind. I’m so used to spending most my spare time alone that I was exhausted by the time they left. We filled our days, morning and night, with so much shopping, socializing and crazy amounts of eating!!! I am now on a detox and only eating healthy.

I’m sad they are gone, but I’m already planning our next trip to Mexico to visit them.

I had such a great weekend. Saturday was girls night. We had dinner at Lovely Fifty Fifty Pizza, and a nice time chatting at my house afterwards. Super mellow. I even managed to stay up to watch the first half of SNL, and to my surprise Eli Manning was pretty funny. I never really want to watch athletes host, because they are usually so stiff and reading directly from the cue cards, but Eli came through. Who Knew?

Sunday was clean my office day. It was an insane mess! I spent a good six hours on it. It’s still not Martha Stewart perfect, but usable. I even made jewelry in there this morning. My hubby also came home Sunday, from his surfing beach trip, just in time to mow the lawn. The house is looking good for our house guests who happen to be coming over tonight. Yeah!

I happened to be merchandising Nicole Whitesell’s store Shop Adorn, for her grand re-opening party, when she told me a news crew was coming in to film the shop. Luckily, I was dressed cute enough to be on TV that morning. It could have been a problem had I shown up in sweats.

Anyhhoo,  News Channel 8 was going to do a story on how some of the outfits featured on the show Grimm were from Shop Adorn. Nicole looks and sounds great in the video, and then there are me sightings throughout. I swear the camera man video taped me for about a half an hour just moving racks around, folding clothes etc. I was however smart enough to ask him to film my jewelry, and he did, and it made it into the segment. YEAH!

Special Portland made it on the news. Perhaps it was not meant to be a story about me, but I definitely get cameo credit.

I just wanted to be bright today, so color blocking seemed like the right decision. I think perhaps I took it to another level. Pinata level! It is Cinqo De Mayo for goodness sakes; pinata dressing is just fine. I shall eat plenty of candy today so I round out the effect.

Today is pretty cloudy. You know those days where there are 25 different kinds of clouds in the sky. Each one more ominous than the next. No worries though; I just go about my day and still wear sandals even if it pours. It may rain outside, but it’s always sunny in my heart!
